Nerikomi (Japanese Clay Marbling) Workshop
Markham Location Only
Nerikomi is a centuries-old Japanese ceramic technique that creates striking patterns by layering naturally coloured clay rather than applying surface decoration. Guided by our expert instructors, you'll learn how to combine, shape, and reveal beautiful marbled designs while crafting a functional ceramic piece that's entirely unique.
Nerikomi is best suited to flatter forms like plates, bowls, trays, coasters, and small decorative dishes. Due to the unique marbling effect of specialized clay, no two pieces are ever identical - making each creation your very own handmade treasure.

I had such a great time at the pottery workshop at Arts on Fire! The instructor was warm, supportive, and incredibly patient, which made the whole experience feel calm and enjoyable. Even as a beginner, I felt comfortable throughout the process and created something I’m genuinely proud of.
It's fun and I love it! The environment is great, the teachers are friendly, and there's a lot to do. Most importantly, the finished works are amazing!
Many of the courses looked quite interesting, but I was completely confused and didn't know which one to choose. However, after consulting with the instructor, I received very detailed explanations and recommendations. Even those without experience found it easy to get started on the day of the course. The instructor was also constantly explaining, following up, and helping me. My friends and I successfully created the designs we wanted!
